Prevention is the top priority of the Dental Health Program. We provide Dental Health Education and direct Dental Services to the following populations and entities: Head Start, pre-school, day care, Even Start and traditional school settings. Health fairs, particularly those attended by children, such as those sponsored by schools, police and fire departments, the Marion County Health Department, Indiana Black Expo, parks, community centers and churches; The Bridges to Success dental component, which provides screening in the schools with follow-up treatment in the clinics; Emphasis on preventive and corrective care for prenatal patients, providing dental care for the mother to protect the unborn child and infant child; Special needs patients - HIV/AIDS, Handicapped, Homeless, Refugee/Immigrant and children's home.

In order for our preventive services to be more acccessible we have three call in same day appointment clinics and have oral cancer screening clinics. The most recent addition to our ten permanently based clinic sites is the Smile Mobile, a two chair dental operatory/immunization mobile van.
