SICKLE CELL COUNSELING and EDUCATION PROGRAM

Services provided by the MCHD Sickle Cell Counseling and Education Program include:
A two-day education and screening program in the Marion County school systems.
Notification to families of babies (born in Marion County) with sickle cell disease and counseling, education, advocacy, and support services.
Availability of testing and counseling for parents of newborns with sickle cell trait and disease.
Community outreach, screening, and education for any organization, business, church, or entity requesting this component of the program (within Marion County).


An annual camp and teen retreat are part of the support
services offered by the Sickle Cell Counseling and
Education Program.
